Sheikh Ahmad Al-Nawaf … Khosrau’s messenger to Omar: ‘You justly ruled, felt safe and slept well’

PEOPLE who are corrupt always work to secure their future even in prison. This is due to the fact that the farsighted ones expect their fate.

In this regard, there is a story about the prime minister of a country who was taking a tour of some state institutions, including a kindergarten, where he asked his finance minister, “How much is the monthly food budget of a child?”

The minister responded, “USD 400.”

The prime minister replied, “This is a lot. It should be reduced to USD 200!”

The next day, the prime minister visited the prison and asked the finance minister, “How much is the monthly food budget of a prisoner?”

The minister replied, “USD 400.”

The prime minister told his minister, “That is less. Increase it to USD 800!”

The minister then asked him, “Boss, why did you reduce the food budget for kindergarten children, and raise the food budget for prisoners?”

The prime minister replied, “Do you think that we will go to kindergarten after leaving the ministry?”

The corrupt know that they will either go to jail or they will leave their country in order to escape accountability. This is why they turn a blind eye to major violations in the state so that everyone feels corruption is a general social norm.

This is the rule that these people adopted, which is countered with strict accountability rules, one of which is that the ruler himself does not deviate from the right path.

It was narrated that the third rightly guided caliph of Muslims Omar Ibn Al-Khattab had said, “If a lost sheep dies on the banks of Euphrates River, I would be certain that Almighty Allah would ask me about it on the Day of Resurrection.”

That is why when Khosrau’s messenger came to the just Caliph Omar and asked about him, he was told, “He is sleeping under that tree.”

He found him without security guards, and he said his famous saying, “You ruled justly, felt safe and slept well.”

If the rightly guided caliph deviated from justice in administration and took into account the cronies, close associates, and loved ones, the collapse of the state would have been swift and at an early age, but he set the limits on those close to them before the general public.

Your Highness the Prime Minister, when the law becomes a point of view, and not a limit that the official does not exceed before the citizen, the rights become clear, but rather the rule “what is ours is ours and what is yours is ours and yours” becomes the standard. From here, the chaos created by the administration’s corruption prevails.

I remember it was in 2008 I think that the Vice President of the UAE Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid received information about two officials who embezzled some money and took advantage of their positions.

Sheikh Mohammed immediately ordered them to be imprisoned and demanded the return of the embezzled money. He issued a series of decisions by which he cut off the path for the corrupt. Since then until today, no embezzler or corrupt person has been exposed, as everyone works with integrity in serving their country.

Also, if King Salman bin Abdulaziz had waited for the law and had not issued directives to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to start a campaign against corruption, the Saudi budget would still suffer from a large deficit to this day.

However, the decision was made that the Ritz Hotel would be the residence of the corrupt who have been looting for nearly thirty years to a point of being able to control ten percent of the state budget. They spread corruption in institutions. When they were held accountable, the state’s finances returned to abundance.

Your Highness Sheikh Ahmad Al-Nawaf, reform is not possible in light of nepotism, favoritism and the absence of accountability. It is pointless waiting for the law in which there are loopholes that make the looters of public money escape punishment or flee abroad to enjoy the looted public money.

Hence, remember the saying of Khosrau’s messenger to Omar ibn al-Khattab (May Allah be pleased with him) and look at those who suffer in prisons as a result of a simple loan that has trapped them in the nets of usurers and the deep state.

Also remember the words of Allah the Almighty – “Indeed, Allah commands you to return that which had been entrusted to you to the rightful owners. Be just when passing judgment among people. Allah’s advice is the most noble. He sees and hears everything.”

This is because justice is the core of dominion.
