Seven Kuwaitis held with drugs – Campaign intensified

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 30: Seven Kuwaiti citizens were arrested in possession of drugs, drug  and other illegal items. According to security sources, security authorities have been intensifying campaigns against drug peddlers and violators of law based on instructions from the Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs at Ministry of Interior Major General Ibrahim Al-Tarrah. Within 24 hours, securitymen had arrested these seven citizens in possession of drugs from various governorates.

The first arrest was made at Saad Al- Abdullah City when Jahra securitymen, who were patrolling the area, noticed a man driving recklessly and ordered him to pull over. When they asked him for his identification document, they noticed his disoriented state as well as that of his companion.

Securitymen checked them and found a sachet of hashish and other drugs on them. Both citizens were arrested and the drugs were confiscated. Meanwhile, another Kuwaiti citizen, who is wanted by law for enforcement of a sixmonth imprisonment sentence, was arrested by Jahra securitymen for consuming and possessing hashish and methamphetamine.

Furthermore, two Kuwaiti citizens were arrested in Farwaniya area for consuming and possessing drugs. One of them was discovered to be wanted by law for a financial case of KD 91,000.

Also, Special Taskforce officers arrested a Kuwaiti citizen in possession of drugs, drugs paraphernalia, knives, and a cleaver. In addition, a Kuwaiti citizen, who is wanted by law for enforcement of a tenyear imprisonment sentence, was arrested in Mahboula area in possession of drugs paraphernalia. All the arrested citizens were referred with the confiscated drugs and other illicit items to the Drugs Control General Department for necessary legal action.
