KUWAIT CITY, Dec 09: Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) referred an official of the Ministry of Education to the Public Prosecution for the crime of negligence and harm to the public funds, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting reliable sources.
They revealed that the Cabinet notified the Ministry of Education via an official letter that communication was received by the Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority against a director general with suspicion of corruption in the ministry against him. Based on the results of the investigation and evidence gathered, the matter was referred to the Public Prosecution.
The sources explained that the accusation directed against the director general is based on suspicion of the crime of neglecting public funds, in accordance with the text of article No. 14 of the law on the Protection of Public Funds, and among the crimes stipulated in the law establishing the Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority. The Cabinet informed the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Saud Al-Harbi to review the matter and take whatever measures the ministry deems appropriate in this regard.
