Scores of illegal expats, criminals nabbed in raids

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 18: Security campaigns launched by officers from the Public Security Sector resulted in the arrest of scores of violators of law, wanted individuals and those without any identification documents, and seven individuals in possession of drugs as well as impounding of 18 vehicles. During campaigns in Hawally Governorate, 113 individuals were arrested as they were either wanted by law, had expired residence permits or were reported as absconding. Also seven individuals were arrested in possession of drugs. In Ahmadi Governorate, 18 wanted vehicles were confiscated and 21 violators of law and nine people in possession of drugs were arrested. Officers from the Operations Unit arrested nine individuals including four in possession of drugs and one in possession of liquor. Farwaniya securitymen arrested two individuals for consuming and possessing drugs. In Capital Governorate, ten wanted individuals were arrested along with four for possessing liquor and 14 without any identification documents. In addition, 77 traffic citations were issued.

Raids in Jahra, Kabad: General Department for Residency Security Affairs launched security campaigns in Jahra Industrial Area and Kabad area during which officers arrested 70 individuals of different nationalities, majority of who have residency under article 20 and are wanted by security authorities and some among them were reported as absconding, reports Al- Seyassah daily. Meanwhile, officers from General Department for Residency Security Affairs arrested an Asian woman who was accused of forging official documents. When the department received information that an Asian housemaid had reached an agreement with a company representative for the transfer of her residency at Hawally Labor Department without the knowledge of her sponsor, a team was formed for investigations. The team called the sponsor who revealed that she has no information about the transfer of residency of her housemaid. They summoned the suspect and questioned her. She confessed to the agreement, revealing that she was planning to pay the mandoub for the residency transfer. Securitymen summoned the mandoub who revealed the details when questioned. The Asian woman and the mandoub were arrested and referred to the concerned authorities. A case of “forgery of official documents” was filed against them.
