KUWAIT CITY, Oct 2: Director of the Slaughterhouse Saad Al- Bous, commented on the decision of the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) not to slaughter female animals in order to increase the production of red meat saying the decision has caused losses and led to the rise in prices, and confused breeders, reports Al-Anba daily.

He said some female animals do not respond to pregnancy and this leaves the breeders without solution.

In this case, some of the breeders are forced to slaughter the female animals and said the decision not to slaughter female animals which are prone to breeding has shot the price of one sheep from KD 80 to 140.

He went on to say that the decision is unstudied, and there are companies that import sheep, 20% of which are female, how will they deal with the situation, he asked.

He added, the concerned authorities must re-examine the decision and consider the interest of the breeder and leave the decision to him whether to slaughter the animal or not.
