KUWAIT CITY, Jan 27: The Al-Ahmadi Governorate Search and Investigation Department successfully apprehended a military officer affiliated with the Ministry of Interior who had orchestrated the theft of two machine guns, ammunition, and a security patrol last week. The incident culminated in the individual opening fire in a densely populated area.

According to a security source, the Ministry of Interior operations received a report regarding the absence of a military officer from his designated post, coupled with the alarming information that he had absconded with two M16 machine guns, two ammunition stores, and a security patrol. Concurrently, another report surfaced detailing gunfire at a residence in the Sabahiya area, fortunately resulting in no injuries. Subsequent investigations revealed that the perpetrator behind the shooting incident was the same military officer accused of stealing the aforementioned weapons and patrol.

In response, a rapid-response team was swiftly assembled, successfully identifying and apprehending the accused at his concealed location. The ongoing investigation aims to uncover the circumstances surrounding the case and the motives that prompted the accused to discharge his firearms at a residence in Sabahiya after the theft of the machine guns, ammunition, and patrol. The security source indicated that, once the investigation is complete and the mental well-being of the accused is ascertained, he will face multiple criminal charges and be referred to the prosecution for legal proceedings.
