KUWAIT CITY, May 20: The Ministry of Social Affairs, in coordination with the security and health authorities, extended the period for cooperative societies to supply consumers with agricultural products and food commodities from 2:00 am to 2:00 pm, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting Undersecretary Abdulaziz Shuaib.

In a press statement, Shuaib disclosed this move is aimed at ensuring the cooperative societies provide the needs of citizens and residents; especially vegetables, fruits and other food commodities, considering the consumers can shop only once every six days due to the total curfew.

He pointed out the ministry is keen on guaranteeing ample supply of fruits and vegetables for everyone; affirming it spares no effort in maintaining food security, particularly under the extraordinary circumstances the country is going through due to the spread of coronavirus.

He praised the Consumer Cooperative Societies Union and other concerned authorities for their cooperation with the ministry in ensuring that the cooperatives throughout the country offer the best services to consumers
