KUWAIT CITY, June 23, At least one person was killed among those injured in the fire that broke out at Kuwait central prison and was contained by six fire stations on Thursday, said Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD). The fire injured 47 in section four of the prison, while also injuring four firefighters, the directorate’s public relations department chairman, Col Khalil Al-Amir told KUNA. He added that a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the blaze is currently being conducted by the directorate.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah expressed his gratitude to the ministers and staff at the Ministries of Health and Interior for their efforts exerted in extinguishing the fire that broke out at the Central Prison, lauding the role of security men in safeguarding the prison and curbing damage of the fire.

His Highness the Amir also extolled the role of the firefighters who controlled the blaze bravely and professionally, and saved lives of prisoners, wishing those injured a speedy recovery. His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah sent similar cables.
