Number of residence violators rise to 171,000

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 14: There has been a significant increase in residence violators which is estimated at about 171,000. From these 74,000 expats are on Article 14, also there are visit visa holders who were unable to leave the country by end of November, 63,000 domestic workers holding Article 20, whereas the number of violators in the private sector are around 34,000 holding Article 14. 


Those holding Article 14 are required to amend their status by obtaining approval from the residency affairs department, reports Al Anba. Due to closure of airspace by some countries there have been rise in numbers from 130,000 expats.


The Ministry of Interior will be conducting a security campaign and will pursue and track down the residence violators after the time period to rectify or amend the status by the end of December. The violators are entitled to amend their status but currently the turnout is low which is estimated to 1000 violators. Currently the status can be amended by paying the fines.
