KUWAIT CITY, July 6: Kuwaiti-Pakistani relations are highly developed and the Kuwaiti leadership is keen on strengthening relations between the two countries in various fields, says Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs Khaled Al-Yassin. In a statement on the sidelines of the Pakistani Mango Festival at The Avenues recently, Al- Yassin affirmed that “the Kuwaiti- Pakistani Committee for Economic Cooperation meetings are successful and both sides are keen on strengthening relations in all fields.” Meanwhile, Pakistani Ambassador Malik Farooq said: “The festival is very important and the distinguished attendance is evidence of the depth of the relationship between the two brotherly countries and peoples.” He also stressed that the leaders of the two countries are focusing on the relationship between Pakistan and Kuwait.

Cooperation
He confirmed the strong cooperation between Kuwait and Pakistan in other fields, especially food security. He said the total volume of non-oil trade between Kuwait and Pakistan reached about $590 million in 2023, which will most likely increase this year due to the desire of the two countries to further strengthen cooperation between them in various areas. He stated that his country is working with Kuwait to enhance cooperation in the field of food security; as it provides many food products, fruits, meat and live livestock; while trade relations between the two countries are witnessing a noticeable increase. He added: “Mangoes are considered the queen of fruits.

Pakistani products are in demand among Kuwaiti citizens and residents.” He also affirmed the support of the United Nations Settlements Organization, “as they are our partners in this field and they cooperate with us in other areas.” He stressed that he is proud of the Pakistani community in Kuwait, considering their unwavering support for the embassy, especially in holding this festival and inviting a large number of their Kuwaiti friends to the event. He added the Pakistani community significantly contributes to strengthening relations between the two countries. Moreover, Director of the Office of Human Settlements in Kuwait and the Gulf States Dr. Amira Al-Hassan revealed: “There is a cooperation agreement between the organization and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Product festivals are beneficial to public health, including mango, which has many health benefits.” She added that she is working with Kuwaiti government agencies and their partners from various embassies in the country to contribute to the general health of the population and provide the finest products and psychological climate for good mental health.
