Mixed reaction from public on rules KUWAIT CITY, Sept 12: Head of the Reform and Developmental Committee at the Municipal Council Hamoud Al-Enzi has presented suggestions for amending the conditions required for the issuance of licenses for spring camps. He explained that the suggestions include asking those interested in obtaining a license for a camp of area 1,000 square meters camp to plant a fixed number of trees, as well as one tree in every additional area of 200 square meters. The trees should be of the kinds that can resist the hot weather of Kuwait, as they will help protect the wild environment and provide food for wild birds and animals. The suggestions include reviewing Municipal Council’s decision No. 183/11/2013 and adding a new article with the above mentioned suggestion. It also include demanding a deposit of KD 300 from each citizen who applies for license, and then return the deposit after the license expires, but only after making sure they meet the conditions including planting the trees and leaving the location clean as well as paying KD 50 as fees for the issuance of the license. Meanwhile, several users of social media reacted to the suggestions which were circulated by some bloggers. Some among these bloggers asked about the future of the planted trees and who will be responsible for caring for these plants after the removal of the camp especially during the hot summer months. Other bloggers supported the suggestion, saying the trees will help in minimizing the effects of dust storms. One of the bloggers said the problem is with Kuwait Municipality which, according to him, pulls out every green object and discards it. By Abdulnasser Al-Aslami Al-Seyassah Staff
