KUWAIT CITY, Dec 2: The law on naturalizing not less than 4,000 individuals in 2019 is doomed to failure, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting security sources. Sources pointed out that no one will be naturalized as per the law for various reasons such as the grace period which lasts until the end of next month – around 20 working days in front of a government which has yet to be formed.

Sources said it takes time to form the new government while the interim government is not constitutionally allowed to adopt this matter. Aside from the above-mentioned reasons, the time is not enough to discuss and review related files in the State security and criminal evidence departments, obtain inherited quality of fingerprints, and check files to be adopted by the incumbent interior minister, sources added.

Sources revealed the ministry has neither prepared nor submitted any naturalization list, indicating this is the third time that the National Assembly approved the law on naturalization of not less than 4,000 individuals without implementing it. Sources said the Assembly approved such a law in 2016 and 2018 but it was not enforced during those years.
