Municipality refers banned foodstuff to legal department

KUWAIT CITY, May 4: Kuwait Municipality has affirmed that the issue related to the entry of trucks with banned foodstuffs has been referred to the legal department, denying connivance and negligence in holding its officials accountable, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

In response to the report published by the daily under the headline “Negligence of Municipality has glutted the country with banned fresh and frozen meats”, the municipality said the entry some of the trucks to the country, despite issuance of a circular from Ministry of Commerce and Industry to ban import of some foodstuffs from certain countries, was due to delay of the Food Import Department in distributing the circulars to land, sea and air ports.
