MP submits bill for equality between land plots owners

‘Allow more floors on 400 sq mt land’

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 16: MP Hamdan Al-Azmi has submitted a bill to amend the decree issued on May 13, 1979 to organize construction works. The bill allows the owners of plots measuring 400 square meters or less to build houses consisting of four fl oors with a maximum height of 20 meters. The current decree limits the number of fl oors for all houses to three with a maximum height of 15 meters. Al-Azmi pointed out that his bill is aimed at ensuring equality between the owners of plots with maximum area of 400 square meters and those who have larger plots

On the other hand, MP Fahd Falah Bin Jame’e has forwarded queries to Minister of Health Ahmed Abdulwahab Al-Awadhi about the mechanism for organizing the work of the Medical Accountability Authority. He wants to know the number of complaints submitted to the authority since its establishment, measures taken in this regard, if any of the complaints were set aside without conducting investigations, number of sub-committees, names and qualifications of the members, copies of the minutes of their meetings, number of appointed and seconded employees at the authority, procedures adopted to fill up vacant supervisory positions, if the authority imposed penalties on health institutions proven to have violated the relevant law, list of these institutions, description of their violations and penalties, names of the members of the grievance committee and how long it takes for the committee to respond to complaints.

Maintenance
MP Hani Shams asked Minister of Commerce and Industry and State Minister for Sports and Youth Muhammad Othman Al-Aiban about the number of football pitches at the Public Authority for Sports which need maintenance, if the sports clubs have corresponded with the authority about such need, copies of correspondences, if the authority did not respond to the request of sports clubs, date of the last maintenance works and annual budget for this purpose.

MP Saad Al-Khanfour submitted a proposal to form a public authority that will be tasked to allocate five percent of the country’s land for housing projects. He said the committee should be chaired by a deputy prime minister and the concerned ministers should be the members – housing, public works, municipality and cabinet affairs. He also suggested giving the committee chairman the authority to add more members to represent other concerned institutions like the Environment Public Authority, General Traffic Department and Kuwait National Petroleum Corporation. He revealed the objectives of the committee include settling disputes between public institutions regarding the housing issue and removing obstacles to the implementation of housing projects.
