KUWAIT CITY, March 29: A source at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor said the ministry is setting guidelines to collect donations during the Holy Month of Ramadan, reports Al-Anba daily. The daily added, the donations can be collected only via the K-Net, from bank accounts and online e-transfer.

The source said the ministry has informed all charity organizations that the guidelines do not have any provision for cash donations, stressing the cash donations are against the law. The source went on to say field teams will be active from day of the month of Ramadan to monitor money collections in cash.

The source explained any party wishing to organize charity bazaars during the holy month must get prior approval from the concerned ministry. The ministry also said it will coordinate its efforts with the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs to set a schedule for collection of donations in mosques for specific projects. However, priority will be given for local projects, which will be announced before mid-April.
