KUWAIT CITY, Sept 2: The Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Mute’eb Al-Ardi, will continue deliberations on the ‘Interior Ministry hospitality’ case involving 24 employees of the ministry.

Earlier, the court postponed the trial in order to call the witnesses. It also rejected the bail request presented by the defense team, as well as the request to impose media gag on the court session and lift the travel ban on the defendants whose bail requests were granted.

In the previous court sessions, the lawyer for one of the defendants asked the court to allow him to transfer KD10 million to the court to be deducted from the money seized by the Public Prosecution and to release his client on financial guarantee defined by the court. He said the other defendants transferred KD21 million to the Ministry of Interior and the remaining KD10 million as the total amount required is KD31 million.

The lawyer asked the court to release his client if allowed to transfer the remaining KD10 million into the bank account of the ministry. During the previous court sessions, the lawyers requested the court to release their clients including the one who is hospitalized with a medical report proving he cannot attend the court session for medical reasons.

The lawyers also asked the court to allow them to see the case file including the documents provided by the prosecution. However, the court dismissed these requests and adjourned the session until Sunday to hear the lawyers’ pleas.
