KUWAIT CITY, Jan 16: First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled recently issued a directive on the immediate formation of an investigation committee to investigate the fistfight between some security officers assigned at the ministry, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting a security source. The source disclosed that Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled ordered the detention of all parties involved in the fight, which occurred at a police station in Northwest Sulaibikhat, and to take all the necessary administrative measures against them. He said six security officers were involved in the altercation -- two with the rank of captain, one first lieutenant assigned at the Public Security Sector in the Capital Governorate Security Directorate- Northwestern Sulaibikhat Police Station, two assigned at the Traffic Operations and Traffic Investigation units in the General Traffic Department (GTD) and one from the Criminal Investigation General Department.

The source added that the preliminary investigations conducted by Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs Major General Abdullah Al-Rajaib revealed that a police officer had a dispute with a motorcycle driver as the latter was driving recklessly who turned to be a police investigator and a vehicle driven by an official at the Traffic Investigation Unit was chasing him. Then, a captain was assigned at the police station and another officer intervened. They tried to arrest the reckless officer whose colleagues intervened, hence, a fistfight ensued.
