Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior wins best film award

Bid to fight terrorism, extremism

TUNIS, March 18, (KUNA): Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Wednesday won the 2020 award for best awareness film on combating terrorism and extremism. The Secretariat General of the Arab Interior Ministers’ Council granted the award to the MoI at the end of the 44th virtual conference of Arab police and security chiefs, the Secretariat said in a statement. Involving the ministries of interior in producing films aims to deepen security awareness of Arab citizens and encourage them to take part in the protection and combating of crime, it added.

The council secretary general, Mohammed bin Koman, handed, on Wednesday, the prize to the assistant undersecretary at the MoI, Major General Faraj Al-Zu’bi, who headed the Kuwaiti delegation at the 42nd conference, grouping chiefs of Arab police and security forces.

On the 44th conference, the statement said that the conferees discussed promoting Arab security cooperation to set appropriate mechanisms and policies. The conference agreed on establishing a permanent committee on criminal survey in the Arab countries to help take the right security decision, it noted. The gathering also covered the Arab strategy project to combat human trafficking crimes, it stated. The project allows creating a framework that specifies Arab cooperation in the face of dangerous crimes and grave violations resulted from such wrongdoings, it pointed out.
