KUWAIT CITY, Oct 14, (KUNA): Kuwait’s Equate Group announced Monday the official start-up of commercial production of its MEGlobal site in Oyster Creek, Texas plant with a production capacity of 750,000 metric tons per year of ethylene glycol.

In a statement, Equate said that new plant will be operated by MEGlobal Americas Inc, a subsidiary of Equate petrochemical company and is the group’s first manufacturing facility in the US, noting that it will produce ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol fibers used in a number of market applications.

The successful implementation of the project demonstrated the ability of Equate to benefit from the best international practices in this field, from safety to adherence to the schedule and the ability to control costs, the statement quoted the Group’s CEO Ramesh Ramachandran as saying. “The new plant is the company’s first major investment on the US Gulf Coast with a production capacity of 750,000 metric tons per year of ethylene glycol,” Ramachandran added. For his part, Executive Vice-President at Equate Nasser Al-Dousari affirmed that the plant will strengthen the group’s global presence and come as part of its ongoing plans to add value as an ethylene glycol producer and supplier.
