KUWAIT CITY, Oct 20: The Ministry of Health has stressed the need for citizens to book appointments in order to obtain vaccination for seasonal influenza and pneumonia, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources.

Sources disclosed the booking is done through the website published on the ministry’s platforms, indicating the barcode will be used to enter the vaccination centers.

Sources explained the ministry took this step after observing that many of those who visited the centers last Thursday did not comply with the health regulations.  This is in addition to the difficulty of implementing the social distancing policy; hence, the risk of spreading coronavirus, especially among the elderly, those with chronic diseases and pregnant women, sources added.

Sources confirmed the availability of 80,000 doses of flu vaccine and 72,000 of which were distributed to the preventive health centers.  Sources said 70 percent of these doses have been consumed; while the remaining 8,000 are stored in the medical warehouses.  Sources revealed the ministry expects the delivery of additional vaccines soon.
