KUWAIT CITY, Feb 8: First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Acting Minister of Defense Sheikh Talal Al-Khalid said a number of decisions related to the work of the Committee for Amending Demographics and Developing the Labor Market, have been issued immediately after the committee held its first meeting, reports Al-Qabas daily. The Minister indicated that the committee will begin work on imbalances in the demographics and labor market immediately and has approved the executive regulations of draft Law 74 of 2020 which calls for organizing the demographics and will submit it to the Council of Ministers, which also takes into account the demographic composition and call on the concerned authorities to take urgent measures to address the imbalance.

The committee also reviewed the presentation submitted by President of the Union of Consumer Cooperative Societies on the issue of Kuwaitization which encourages nationals to work in cooperative societies by understanding the needs of Kuwaiti society.

The committee has issued a decision obliging cooperative societies to soon Kuwaitize all senior and supervisory positions, in addition to raising the percentage of workers in cooperative societies, which allows creating about 3,000 job opportunities for Kuwaitis in the cooperatives sector by offering good salaries and financial incentives, in addition to creating opportunities for retirees on the board of directors in the advisory capacity.

The committee also issued a decision assigning the Public Authority for Manpower, in coordination with the private sector, to prepare a program that includes specialized training projects that focuses on qualifying and empowering Kuwaitis to work in the private sector and enhance their capabilities and encourage and support national employment. Moreover, the sources told the Demographics Committee there is an indication about activating a special smart application bearing the name “Kuwait visa” to realize the Kuwaitization plan, organizing entry visas and the validity of all procedures that precede the entry of workers and visitors to Kuwait.

There is a tendency, the sources said, to add the service to verify the identity of the worker, the validity of his residency, and the validity of his profession data through the ‘my identity’ application, which means that every person can verify the identity of the worker who provides services to him when using him to get rid of marginal labor.

The sources added the Public Authority for Manpower, in cooperation with the Civil Service Commission, was tasked with motivating citizens to work in the private sector through the ‘Our Pride’ platform which has been established for the benefit of citizens. The sources stated the Minister of Interior stressed on the need to during the next meeting there will be a follow up on the procedures that have taken place and to issue new assignments.
