Kuwaiti play ‘The 6th column’ presented at Cairo Int’l festival; Theatrical boost for Kuwait

CAIRO, Sept 5 : In the presence of a large number of artists and critics, the Kuwaiti play entitled “The 6th column’ was shown Sunday evening, as part of the performances of the 29th session of the Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre, which will continue until September 8. Speaking to KUNA on the sidelines of the performance, head of the Artists and Media Syndicate of Kuwait Dr. Nabil Al-Failakawi said Kuwait is keen on partaking in this event, as it is one of the most famous Arab and international festivals.

Deeply-rooted
Kuwait has a deeply-rooted theatrical history and the country’s folk theater group was formed more than 65 years ago, he said. The group offered more than 115 plays and won several prizes at different cultural events, he added. The ‘6th column’ is written by Fatma al-Amer and produced by Ali Al-Beloushi, he noted, referring that it won the Grand Prix at the Kuwait theater festival and seven other prizes. He stressed keenness on raising Kuwait’s flag at varied cultural events to boost cultural sharing and transferring Kuwait’s theatrical experiment. Meanwhile, Al-Beloushi, the play’s director, expressed his delight at partaking in the festival. He said that preparations for the festival took six months, indicating that the play discusses different kinds of betrayal. (KUNA)
