KUWAIT CITY, Jan 10: A Kuwaiti citizen born in 1989 died in a headon collision with a water tanker driven by an Asian expatriate. The Asian motorist sustained injury while the citizen succumbed to his injury after toppling of the vehicle on Wafra Motorway following the impact. The Operations Room of the Interior Ministry was notified about the incident and a team of rescue men was dispatched to the scene without delay. They managed to remove the victims from their respective vehicles, but the citizen was already dead. The remains were deposited to Forensics and the injured person was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Adan Hospital amid severe head and chest injuries. Traffic men removed the wreckage from the road, and a case was registered by securitymen.Professor beaten: A professor from the Kuwait University has filed a complaint with the Hawalli Police Station accusing an unidentified young man, believed to be one of his students, of assaulting him, reports Al-Rai daily. The professor said he was on his way home and a motorist swerved at his car and forced him to mount the pavement to avoid a collision. Following this, the suspect than deliberately crashed into his vehicle from behind and forced him to pull over. The complainant added, the young man then dragged him out of the car, hurled abuses at him, beat him and drove off. The complainant has submitted a medical report.Two fires tackled: Fire engulfed a warehouse located outside the walls of Sabah Al-Salem University City (Shadadiya) with three storage containers and two sand delivery trucks. A source said the Operations Room of the Fire Department received a distress call about a fire in a warehouse 300 meters from the university, owned by a private company, and a team of firemen was dispatched to the scene to deal with the situation. High ranking officials were present alongside paramedics and security operatives. Detectives from the General Fire Department have since registered a case for investigation, as the cause of fire wasn’t immediately known. Meanwhile, firemen extinguished a fire in a shop for selling car parts in Shuwaikh Industrial Area. The incident resulted in a huge material loss but no human casualty was reported.Live ammo drill: The Interior Ministry said Tuesday the Coastal Guard will conduct a shooting drill using live ammunition in the country’s territorial waters during Jan 15-17. The exercise will be carried out from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm near the Islands of Qaru and Umm Al-Maradem, it said in a press release.
