Decisions to have positive impact on economic activity

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 29: The Kuwaiti factories are currently working in full swing to comply with the requirements imposed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization SASO and the SABER electronic platform to facilitate the entry of Kuwaiti products into the market of Saudi Arabia by issuing Certification of Conformity (CoC), reports Al-Anba daily quoting informed sources. The SASO CoC is specific to Saudi Arabia.

This document certifies that the item has been successfully tested and inspected to meet the country’s quality and safety standards. The sources said that the Kuwaiti factories have welcomed this with optimism after the reopening of the Kuwaiti-Saudi borders last week, and the subsequent government decisions that may have a positive impact on economic activity, most notably the decision of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to do away with the ban (which was issued on March 11) on the export of all commodities, food products, medicines, supplies and medical equipment of all kinds outside the country.

The sources added that the first thing the Kuwaiti manufacturers did was keeping up with the new changes by dealing with the decision issued by the Saudi authorities related to the ‘SABER’ platform, with the aim of saving the effort and time needed to launch products and limit the entry of unsafe products into the Saudi market.

The sources explained that the SABER platform facilitated the beneficiaries’ access to the bodies accepted by the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization to examine products and issue CoC electronically.

The sources called for overcoming all obstacles, addressing outstanding issues, and creating permanent mechanisms to facilitate the entry of Kuwaiti products into Saudi Arabia, especially since the Kingdom is a transit point to the markets of neighboring countries such as Bahrain, the UAE and Jordan.

The sources stressed their confidence on the Kuwaiti and Saudi keenness to work to solve the issues and obstacles that hinder delaying the entry of Kuwaiti goods across the Saudi borders, in an effort to serve the citizens of the two countries and remove all obstacles and challenges that may face them
