KUWAIT CITY, March 29: Suleiman Al-Bassam, a Kuwaiti playwright and director, presented his latest play "Silence" at a workshop during the ongoing "Tunisia Theaters of the World" festival. The play delves into the catastrophic Beirut port explosion and features a mix of musical styles and Arab voices to portray the violence of the event. Al-Bassam emphasized the play's significance in exploring Arab-Arab combinations to create a contemporary theatrical language and noted the cooperation between the Tunisian theater and a Kuwaiti independent theater troupe.

He views this as a chance to strengthen and expand partnerships, given the lack of relationships between performers and playwrights in the Arab world. "Silence" depicts possible forms of resistance against unprecedented violence, and the play's music ranges from police film aesthetics to sound abstraction. The diverse team includes Syrian-French actress Hala Omran, members of the "Dragon Team," Lebanese musicians Ali Hout and Abdel-Ridha Kobeissi, French scenographer Eric Souayer, and Tunisian production director Osama Jamaei.
