He added that the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries is a new stage in the development of bilateral relations, as the 22nd of March 1971 is the official date for the establishment of Kuwaiti- Chinese diplomatic relations, but the relations between the two countries are much older than this date. He pointed to the passage of more than five decades since the establishment of these relations, in which the traditional friendship between the leaderships of the two countries was established, and senior officials exchanged many official visits at the highest levels, which culminated in many important results and achievements in the areas of bilateral cooperation.

He explained that the march of Kuwaiti-Chinese relations witnessed the opening of wide horizons towards enhancing the development and construction process in the two countries and enabling their leaderships and governments to achieve achievements based on strong and stable bilateral relations based on mutual respect, equality, increasing mutual benefit, and other high-level international rules and practices.

Ambassador Hayat said, “In the past four years, bilateral relations between the two countries have developed in various fields, as Kuwait has in China the largest diplomatic presence in the world, represented by four diplomatic missions that include the embassy in the capital Beijing and three general consulates in the cities of Quanzhou and Shanghai and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. He pointed out that there is an “important and vital” Kuwaiti representation in China, including the Kuwaiti Military Office, the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation Representative Office in Beijing, the Kuwaiti Investment Office in Shanghai, and the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) office in Beijing. He added that the existing strategic relations between the two friendly countries witnessed great cooperation in many different fields, especially during the emerging COVID- 19 pandemic, stressing that there are other great potentials for cooperation and coordination between the two countries more closely to create opportunities in various fields. Ambassador Hayat appreciated the efforts of the Chinese leaders and officials aimed at promoting those relations and elevating them to wider heights and making the bilateral dialogue between the two countries more “smooth and comfortable”.
