Kuwaiti and an expat gets 15 years in jail for Human trafficking

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 23: The Criminal Court sentenced a Kuwaiti citizen who works as a company manager, and an expatriate to 15-year imprisonment each with hard labor, and seven other defendants to ten-year imprisonment with hard labor. They were accused of human trafficking.

According to the case file, the Public Prosecution charged the company manager and the nine expatriates with selling visas to the compatriots of the latter, and exploiting them without providing them with employment in Kuwait.

They were also charged with facilitating and obtaining work permits in exchange of money, and then leaving the victims to fend for themselves without actual employment.
