KUWAIT CITY, Sept 9, (KUNA): Kuwait completed hosting a six-nation 27th Gulf Cooperation Council Water Sports Championship on Sunday, coming out on top in most of the final day’s events.

The hosts occupied the majority of medals in the four-day tournament’s swimming, diving and water polo events, including gold medals in the swimming U-10s and water polo U-16s, amongst others.

These sports have been on an upward trajectory, particularly over the last three years, said head of the GCC water sports event organising committee and Oman’s Swimming Association, Taha Al-Kishri.

Al-Kishri hailed the planning and preparation, which went into the competition, singling out the efforts of the Kuwait Swimming Association, headed by Sheikh Khaled Al-Bader Al-Sabah.

The event “did not witness any objections from any of the participating sides, who were completely satisfied with the outcomes,” he said.
