Kuwait cries for its Amir

ALMIGHTY ALLAH says, “Their Lord gives them glad tidings of mercy from Him, and that He is pleased (with them), and of gardens (Paradise) for them wherein are everlasting delights.” (Quran 9:21) Given that the righteous ones have been promised everlasting bliss in the Hereafter, the legacy of the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah renders him to Paradise, for he charted his life wisely and humanely throughout nine decades in this world. Indeed, the world acknowledged and recognized his endeavors, and awarded him with the title of Global Leader of Humanitarian Work – a title for which no one preceded him. Yes, the late Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad was indeed the Amir of Humanity.

His Highness the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah interacts with young Kuwaiti girls during a function.

Almighty Allah made this man, who spent his life serving his country, the Arab and Islamic nations, and humanity as a whole, a message to the present and future generations. Diplomacy was the air he breathed for Kuwait, which rose to its brightest stage during his reign.

Kuwait managed to transform to find a place in the international arena, and became the hub for mediations and convergence of viewpoints.

This is because the custodian of the Gulf role for diplomacy of reconciliations never gave up his efforts to reach the desired peaceful goals, no matter how great and hard the obstacles are. In fact, he chartered cities of the world seeking to conclude reconciliations starting from Yemen to Lebanon and to the ends of the earth; and from east to the west. Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad never knew fatigue during the time he strived for the sake of peace. In fact, it was one of his titles that will remain an example to be emulated in building bridges of friendship and cooperation, preventing clashes, and healing rifts. The world today sheds a sincere tear for a man who made his homeland his life. He did not neglect or concede, but faced the most difficult stages of life with confidence, firmness and determination to reach safety.

The ship settled in the harbors of tranquility every time because its captain faced challenges, which he had used for turning into lessons and paths of hope. The 29th of September will remain a sad day in the history of Kuwait, the Gulf and the Arab and Islamic nations due to the departure of the leader of wisdom, and the loss of the one who had a smile that could relieve the pain of the anxious and could inspire optimism.

Today, we do not bid farewell to Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad, but we renew the pledge to persevere in continuing what the steel resolve has built, which transported Kuwait, in accelerated steps, to advanced sites in order for it to become a global financial and commercial hub. During his reign, major projects were approved in accordance with the approach that His Highness established for this country – Kuwait – the global center of humanity, in order for it to be a beacon of knowledge and culture, with a message of tolerance.

Therefore, the absence of the body does not mean reaching the last path of the approach that entrenches behavior in the society as a whole. The ember of separation is a burning farewell to the one who had always exhorted everyone to be on the level of this nation, Kuwaitis with determination, deserving of their country to remain the center of global humanitarian work and to move on along the constructive path to achieve further progress.
