KUWAIT CITY, Sept 10: The General Assembly of the Asian Shooting Federation has officially designated Kuwait as the headquarters of the federation for the next four years. This decision was reached during the recent Asian Shooting Assembly held in Kuwait, where Sheikh Salman Al-Hamoud was nominated for another term as president. Additionally, five vice-presidents were elected, including Mishaal Al-Nasr (Qatar), Kashiro Matsumaru (Japan), Javed Lodhabi (Pakistan), Zhang Liang (China), and His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Bandar Al Saud (Saudi Arabia).
The Asian Shooting General Assembly was a significant event, featuring the participation of 41 countries over a span of three days. Distinguished guests included Senator Luciano Rossi, President of the Italian International Shooting Federation, and Willie Grill, Secretary-General of the German International Shooting Federation. The assembly was attended by the presidents and secretaries-general of various Asian Shooting Federations, with Engineer Duaij Al-Otaibi recommended as the Secretary-General of the Asian Shooting Federation.
Senator Luciano Rossi, President of the International Shooting Federation, commended Kuwait's role as the headquarters of the Asian Shooting Federation and its contributions to the development of the sport in Asia. He also praised the leadership of Sheikh Salman Al-Hamoud and Engineer Duaij Al-Otaibi, highlighting their support for the federation, which now comprises 41 Asian countries. Asia has become a pivotal continent in the world of shooting sports.
Willie Grill, Secretary-General of the International Shooting Federation, acknowledged Kuwait's prominence in skeet and trap shooting, noting its remarkable progress at the international level, including qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Zhang Jianwei, the Chinese ambassador to Kuwait and Vice President of the Asian Shooting Federation, lauded Kuwait's advancements in shooting sports and expressed optimism for future success. He also extended his best wishes to the Asian Shooting Federation for active participation in the upcoming Asian tournament in China.
