KUWAIT, July 6 : Kuwaiti Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Mohammad Al-Jabri affirmed on Monday that the State of Kuwait remained determined to shoring up tourism and overcome fallouts of the novel coronavirus on the sector.
Minister Al-Jabri, in a statement addressed on his behalf by Information Undersecretary Munira Al-Huwaidi during the long-distance 46th meeting of the regional committee of the World Health Organization (UNWTO), lauded the enormous State efforts that have been exterted since breakout of the pandemic.
Affirming the approach to revive various sectors, namely tourism, that have been affected with the contagion, Minister Al-Jabri noted that great efforts were being put for restoring normal life and re-activate tourism, also noting in this respect preparations for resuming operations at the local airports that will be ready to receive passengers from various corners of the world as of August 1.
These activities coincide with preparations to reopen land and marine borders, he said, underlining necessity of these efforts for breathing life into the tourism sector.
As how this approach will gradually gain steam, he noted plans to diversify markets, invest in human resources, speed sustainable development in tourism and ink cooperation deals with States.
Elaborating, the minister lauded conferences, symposiums and forums that have been held by the international organization to study strategies for coping with the pandemic and contain its negative effects on tourism. KUNA)
