KUNA’s Egyptian hacker probed

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 20: The State Security police have referred an unidentified person to the Public Prosecution for hacking the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) and making a false announcement in the name of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, that the American forces have announced their withdrawal from one of the bases in Kuwait, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting reliable sources.

The sources indicated the suspect, who is believed to be an Egyptian national allegedly, fell ill during interrogations and was subsequently referred to a hospital and the interrogators were unable to question him further because he looked tired and frightened.

The sources added, the investigations however are ongoing and will be completed once the suspect, who is under heavy guard, is discharged from the hospital. The source concluded the Egyptian is facing a serious charge because the act could have caused a major crisis at the local and international fronts if the news was carried by world news agencies
