Jordan’s King hails Kingdom’s ties with Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and UAE

AMMAN, Oct 4, (KUNA): Jordan’s King Abdullah II affirmed on Thursday the deep rooted brotherly ties that bind Jordan with Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. A statement issued by the Royal Jordanian Court said that King Abdullah met with Kuwaiti Finance Minister Dr Nayef Al Hajraf, Director General of Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development Abdulwahab Al-Bader, Saudi Finance Minister Mohammed Al-Jadaan and UAE Minister of State for Financial Affairs Obaid Al-Tayer.King Abdullah expressed his appreciation to the three Gulf countries for their continued support for Jordan to face the economic burdens it is suffering as a result of regional crises. The visit of the Gulf countries’ ministers to Jordan comes to follow up on outcome of the (Makkah Summit) that was held last June to discuss ways to support the Jordanian economy – concluding with a total commitment of up to $ 2.5 billion.
Earlier on Thursday, the Jordanian government signed with the three Gulf states agreements and memorandums of understanding to implement the commitments made at the summit, including deposits at the Central Bank of Jordan with $ 1.16 billion, $ 550 million in concessional financing for development projects, $ 200 million guarantees for the World Bank to provide soft loans to Jordan as well as grants to support the public budget of $ 500 million over five years to execute development projects.
