Those who live outside their country prefer to buy a car instead of renting it, and they have their reasons, but with the complexity of life in many countries, leasing has become a solution to many of the problems of owning a car, as its owner is not required to perform any periodic maintenance on it, nor renew its ownership papers, nor insurance.

He/she does not have to face mountains of small problems if he/she is involved in a traffic accident, for example, or breaks down in the middle of the road.

Leasing a car instead of buying it is the practical solution to all ownership problems, and it is the general trend. Many individuals and companies have achieved their “traditional” wealth by leasing to huge industrial companies, such as the Kuwait Oil Company, Aramco, and others.

In recent years, I have begun to satisfy my passion for cars by renting them, instead of buying them, as this causes less headache, and I say this from experience dating back to more than 62 years. I am fond of owning and driving cars, and the first car I owned was a 1962 Volkswagen, for which my father paid for its agent, Murad Behbehani, 540 dinars. My second car was a 1965 Mustang convertible, and the obsession continues today.

Since the solution is in leasing, it is necessary to know some car leasing secrets:

We must first make sure that the place to pick up the car is convenient and close to the airport building. When it is far away, the issue of handling luggage becomes very annoying. The reservation must be flexible, allowing cancellation at any time without any financial penalty. Therefore, experts advise booking the car early and then using the time before the trip to check prices from time to time. If prices decrease, the reservation can be canceled and reinstalled at a lower price. The same tactic can be followed with hotel reservations.

Also, when the car you reserved is not available when you arrive, most rental agencies will give you the second best available car without any additional fees, and this is the right of the renter. But some of them try to take advantage of the situation and offer a better car in exchange for paying an additional amount. Here you must insist on the original category of your car, and when it is not available, you have the right to get a car of a better category, without paying an additional fee.

What many car renters do not know is that the bank credit cards they carry often provide them with insurance coverage, especially if the car was reserved using the same card, which provides a significant saving on the rental cost.

Car renters must verify that there are no scratches or external or even internal damage upon receiving the car. If so, it is necessary to inform the company of this so that it can be officially installed.

It is necessary to return the car with a full fuel tank until the end, to avoid the company tampering with this matter. A picture of the tank’s full indicator can be taken, as an argument against the company in the future, if it tries to tamper with it.

Finally, it is necessary to return the car to the company on time. Sometimes a delay not exceeding half an hour gives the company the right to charge a full additional day.
