Horrific accident seriously injures Indian and Philippines flight attendants of Saudi Airlines

RIYADH, Dec 13 (Agencies) : Three expat flight attendants of Saudi Arabian airlines (Saudia) two from India and a third originally hails from the Philippines meet in a tragic accident when their minibus collided with a crane while going back from airport to their accommodation in Riyadh.

One of the injured cabin crew is believed to have already been discharged from hospital while the other two remain in the intensive care unit of a Riyadh area hospital.

Sources say the drivers who are themselves expat workers mostly from the Indian subcontinent are expected to work for 16-hours per day with just one day off a week.

In August a similar incident had taken place, one Saudia flight attendant was killed and 11 others injured when the company bus collided with a truck on the way to King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. 

Saudi Arabia has one of the worst traffic-related death rates in the world with 13,221 road fatalities in 2018.
