WASHINGTON, Oct 31, (Agencies): A remarkable incident unfolded when a school bus driver saved the life of a hit-and-run victim in Eustis, Florida, as her day at work came to a close. Stacy Hatcher, the hero of this story, had just returned a group of Eustis High School band members from a field trip when she stumbled upon Abigail Stevens lying on the road at the intersection of Lakeview Avenue and Morin Drive.

Hatcher's route home that day was slightly different from her usual one, and it was this twist of fate that led her to discover Stevens. When she first spotted the injured woman, she couldn't believe her eyes. She immediately called 911 to report the distressing situation, sharing that there was "a body lying in the road." Hatcher admitted that, at first, she thought it might be a Halloween prank, a dark joke intended to frighten someone. "I thought it was a prank for Halloween, you know, that someone would do to put someone in the road to kind of scare someone, which it did scare me," she recalled. However, as her headlights illuminated the scene, she noticed blood on the ground where Stevens lay, dispelling any doubts about the situation's seriousness. Without hesitation, she made the life-saving call to 911.

The Eustis Police Department released a statement on Facebook, confirming that this incident occurred on the night of October 23 at approximately 9:03 pm. Alongside the announcement was a photo of the suspected vehicle involved in the hit-and-run. The description of the vehicle indicated that it was an older model white passenger car with a black body molding strip along the front and rear passenger doors, and the windows had little to no tint.

Stacy Hatcher's quick thinking and compassion undoubtedly saved a life that night, serving as a shining example of selflessness and courage in the face of a shocking and distressing situation.
