Google introduces a subscription model for access to Bard Advanced AI features.

NEW YORK, Jan 31: In a recent financial update, Alphabet, Google’s parent company, has reported robust subscription revenue exceeding $15 billion annually. The tech giant is poised to further boost these figures by introducing a premium subscription for its conversational AI, Bard.

The announcement of Bard Advanced was made by Google in December, representing the company’s most sophisticated AI assistant powered by the cutting-edge Gemini Ultra architecture. Google’s multimodal AI, Gemini, encompasses three versions, with Ultra specifically designed for intricate tasks. The integration of Gemini Ultra into Bard Advanced equips users with an AI capable of swiftly comprehending and responding to diverse types of information, spanning text, images, audio, video, and code.

During the Q4 earnings call on Tuesday, Google unveiled its plan to offer Bard Advanced as a subscription service, enhancing its capabilities for subscribers. Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai highlighted the advancements, stating, “It’s now powered by Gemini Pro, and it’s much more capable at things like understanding, summarizing, reasoning, coding, and planning. It’s now in over 40 languages and over 230 countries around the world. Looking ahead, we’ll be rolling out an even more advanced version for subscribers powered by Gemini Ultra.”

While specific details regarding the subscription cost and release date for Bard Advanced were not disclosed during the earnings call, Google previously indicated a release sometime this year. The AI is expected to undergo testing by early users before a broader rollout.

Currently, Google Bard is accessible for free, distinguishing itself from ChatGPT, another conversational AI from OpenAI, which offers a subscription tier called ChatGPT Plus priced at $20. The pricing model for Bard Advanced is speculated to align with a similar range based on these precedents.
