Gang of Ethiopians held running bogus maids office

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 25: An Iranian expatriate was arrested for impersonating as a Portuguese expatriate, and forging Portuguese passports for himself and his children in order to receive visas. In a press statement, the General Department of Public Relations and Security Media revealed that detectives received a report about the Iranian and clarified the information through Interpol that all the passports are not authentic. Based on this information, the Iranian was arrested. When they searched his house, they found 12 fake Portuguese passports, three Iranian passports and seven Kuwaiti passports of Article 17. The suspect has been handed over to the concerned authorities where necessary legal measures have been taken.

Gang arrested: Officers from General Residency Affairs Department arrested a gang of Ethiopians for running a bogus domestic recruitment agency and providing shelter for runaway and illegal expatriates. An Interior Ministry press release indicated security authorities received information about the activities of the gang which lured housemaids to escape from their sponsors. They are said to have provided shelter for runaway housemaids and hired them to new employers on a daily or monthly basis. Guarded by search and arrest warrant, security operatives raided the bogus domestic office and arrested five runaway Ethiopian housemaids. They were referred to concerned authorities.

Mobile groceries sealed: The Department of Cleanliness and Road Works conducted a raid on Kabd Road and impounded three cars belonging to hawkers and an unlicensed mobile grocery. It also confiscated 177 sacks of charcoal and 54 packs of firewood. In a statement, acting director of the department Faisal Al- Otaibi affirmed that the campaign will continue to fight negative phenomena and preserve the general scenery of Jahra Governorate by clearing out hawkers and unlicensed kiosks for the sake of public health and safety. Public Relations Department in the Municipality called on members of the public not to hesitate to call the municipality via hotline 1844448 or Twitter @Kuwmun to report any complaints concerning the Municipality. The department assures that every complaint or suggestion made will be dealt with accordingly as per the prevailing policy of the Municipality.

Bootlegger nabbed: Personnel from Capital Security Directorate have arrested an Asian bootlegger and seized from him 91 bottles of local booze, reports Al-Shahed daily. The arrest happened in Al- Doha at a checkpoint. The booze was hidden under the back seat of the car. The suspect and contraband have been referred to the concerned authorities.
