HYDERABAD, Jan 24, (Agencies): The social media has played a pivotal role in the successful search for a missing boy from Bengaluru, as volunteers actively engaged in distributing online posters and visiting key locations, ultimately leading to the boy’s location on a metro in Hyderabad.

The 12-year-old, Parinav, a student at Deens Academy, went missing on January 21 from his coaching centre in Whitefield, Bengaluru. Despite efforts to track him through CCTV footage, the constant movement and change of locations made it challenging for authorities, with the pursuit coming to a dead end at the Majestic bus station.

Faced with physical limitations, the community’s collective efforts on social media became instrumental in the quest to find Parinav. Volunteers visited Majestic, while others shared online posters of the missing boy, generating widespread awareness.

In a positive turn of events, a Bengaluru resident visiting Hyderabad identified a boy resembling Parinav in the metro, confirming his identity through widely circulated pictures. The boy was detained at Nampally metro station in Hyderabad, bringing relief to his family, friends, and the online community invested in his search.

Expressing gratitude, Sukesh, Parinav’s father and a Whitefield-based software engineer, thanked the unnamed individuals who contributed to locating his son. While the details of Parinav’s journey to Hyderabad remain unknown, the family is on its way to pick him up.

In another video, Parinav’s mother, who had previously posted an emotional appeal for his return, expressed thanks for the collective effort. The class 6 student is now under the care of Nampally railway authorities.
