KUWAIT CITY, July 26: Four young people have allegedly died after consuming adulterated local booze, reports Al-Anba daily. The daily added, there are still others who are receiving treatment at the Jahra Hospital, while a young Kuwaiti is receiving treatment in the intensive care unit. One of the victims is said to have lost his eyesight.

According to investigators one of the suspects has confessed to buying a quantity of alcohol from the Mubarakiya area and said he purchased some alcohol intended for the manufacture of perfumes and then mixed it with equal quantity of potable water.

He added, he was not aware that this mixture is toxic mixture and causes blindness and death. The suspect who is believed to be a bedoun said he sold one bottle for 5 dinars.

The accused stated that when he learned that a number of his clients were admitted to the Jahra Hospital, and some had been blinded, and others had died, he disposed of the alcohol in his bathroom of his house in Sulaibiya. A security source confirmed that the alcohol that is used in the manufacture of perfumes differs from the alcohol from which liquor is manufactured.
