KUWAIT CITY, May 1: The Kuwait Meteorological Department (KMD) announced that the country will be affected over the coming days by an extension of a surface depression, bringing with it hot and relatively humid conditions. This system is accompanied by light to moderate southeasterly winds, occasionally active in open areas, with scattered clouds and a possibility of light rain showers, some of which may turn thundery.
Dharar Al-Ali, Director of the Meteorological Department, told KUNA on Thursday that today's weather will be hot and partly cloudy during daylight hours. Winds will vary from southeasterly to variable directions, ranging between 10 and 42 kilometers per hour, and may stir up dust in exposed areas. Scattered rain showers are also expected, potentially accompanied by thunder.
Daytime temperatures are forecast to reach between 39 and 41 degrees Celsius. Sea conditions will be light to moderate, with wave heights ranging between 2 and 6 feet.
For Thursday night, Al-Ali said conditions will remain hot to moderate and partly to mostly cloudy, with noticeable humidity over coastal areas. Winds will be southeasterly to variable at speeds between 10 and 35 kilometers per hour. Blowing dust is possible, with nighttime lows expected between 24 and 26 degrees Celsius. The sea will remain light to moderate, with waves between 2 and 5 feet.
Looking ahead to Friday, Al-Ali forecast hot and partly cloudy weather during the day with relatively high humidity. Southeasterly winds will continue, ranging from 10 to 42 kilometers per hour and may become active at times. Dust is likely in open areas, and there remains a chance of scattered light rain. Daytime highs are expected to range from 39 to 41 degrees Celsius, with sea conditions similar to Thursday — light to moderate, with wave heights between 2 and 6 feet.
Friday night will bring hot to moderate weather, with partly to mostly cloudy skies and continued humidity along the coast. Southeasterly winds will blow at speeds between 8 and 35 kilometers per hour. Scattered rain showers are possible, with temperatures dropping to between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius. The sea will remain light to moderate, with waves between 1 and 5 feet.
Al-Ali added that Saturday will continue the trend, with hot, partly cloudy to cloudy skies and increased humidity. Winds will be southeasterly at speeds ranging from 10 to 38 kilometers per hour. Scattered rain remains a possibility. Highs are expected between 40 and 42 degrees Celsius, and the sea will be light to moderate, with waves from 2 to 5 feet.
Saturday night will be hot to moderate, with partly to mostly cloudy skies and a chance of scattered rain, which may be thundery at times. Winds will be variable and light, ranging from 8 to 32 kilometers per hour. Minimum temperatures are forecast between 26 and 28 degrees Celsius, with light to moderate seas and waves from 1 to 4 feet.
