Al-Arabi’s Bandar Al-Salama celebrates with a teammate after scoring a goal.

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 27: Al-Arabi set a date with Al-Nasr in the quarter-finals of the Amir’s Cup competition, after they narrowly defeated Sulaibikhat and Al-Sahel 1-0 and 2-1, respectively.Despite Al-Arabi scoring the sole goal of the match in the tenth minute through Bandar Salama, it was a challenging match. Al-Nasr, on the other hand, clinched their quarter-final spot when Colombian Hancel Zapata scored the winning goal against Al-Sahel in the first minute of stoppage time.

Today’s quarter-final matches will be completed, with Salmiya facing Khaitan at 4:30 pm at the Friendship and Peace Stadium, and Kazma playing against Burgan at Thamer Stadium at 7:45 pm.In the first match, Al-Salmiya is cautious about potential surprises from Khaitan, recognizing the difference between cup matches and the league. Al-Arabi and Al-Nasr’s struggles in the previous round serve as evidence of this. Al-Salmiya, under the new coaching of Croatian Ante Misha, aims to advance, while Khaitan seeks to lift morale by compensating for their league performance.

In the other clash, Kazma, led by coach Mohamed Dehelis, aims to compete for the title after reaching the final last season. Despite experiencing coaching changes, Kazma hopes to surpass Burgan, who is eager to bounce back from their Zain League disappointment and secure a spot in the next round, just as they did in the Crown Prince Cup quarter-finals after defeating Al-Salmiya.
