KUWAIT CITY, April 27: The Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Community Development, Abdulaziz Al-Mutairi, said determining the categories of debtors whose debts are expected to be paid from the money collected in the form of donations during a campaign which was spearheaded by the ministry is in final touches, reports Al-Qabas daily. Al-Mutairi told the daily a coordination meeting was held between officials of the Ministry of Social Affairs and representatives of the Implementation Department at the Ministry of Justice, to discuss the mechanism, controls and conditions.

Al-Mutairi expected that the campaign would not include debtors who owed large sums of money, “while there will be priority for citizens in debt who are on the travel ban lists.” He added the Ministry is currently working to determine the groups whose debts will be paid from the campaign money, indicating that in light of the huge number of debtors, priority will be given to some groups such as people with special needs, the elderly and women, and the Ministry of Justice will be informed about these categories.

In the context, Al-Qabas learned the concerned officials have discussed a proposal to set a higher ceiling of no more than 5,000 dinars. Responsible sources said that determining the value as an upper limit has not yet been approved, while work is currently underway, in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice, to put the final touches on the included and priority categories.
