KUWAIT CITY, Sept 29: Kuwait Field Hospital Director Dr Muhammad Al-Humaidan has confirmed the closure of Hall Eight in the hospital; taking into consideration the continuous decline in the number of Corona cases, improvement of the epidemiological situation and high vaccination rate, reports Al-Rai daily. “In light of the current decline in the number of cases and rising vaccination rate; the number of patients at Al-Batiniyah ward (Hall Four) now totals 15 compared to the previous number that ranged from 400 to 450 patients in halls four and eight. Due to the improving indicators of the epidemiological situation, Hall Eight is now closed. Only one ward (Hall Four) and one intensive care unit (ICU) are operating at the moment,” Al-Humaidan disclosed.

He said the current clinical occupancy rate for Covid-19 patients in the wards and ICUs has been the lowest since the beginning of the pandemic — around two percent, and there has been no new admission in the last five days; compared to the admission rate in May and June, which ranged from 70 to 80 cases per day. On the other hand, intensive care specialist at the hospital Dr Ahmed Al-Saleh affirmed that the ICU has not admitted any patient for more than two weeks. He asserted this is a remarkable achievement, considering the ICU used to have 10 admission cases daily — a high admission rate. It is worth mentioning that during the height of the pandemic in June, halls four and eight (a total of seven suites) were fully operational
