KUWAIT CITY, Nov 25: The Court of Appeals ruled to reject the appeal submitted by an officer of rank “Colonel” from the Ministry of Interior and three of his accomplices, who are accused of causing a number of guard workers to gather in Farwaniya area to demand their rights, reports Al-Anba daily.

The court upheld the lower court’s judgment of three-year imprisonment with hard labor and immediate enforcement of the verdict on the officer and his three Egyptian accomplices who will be deported after completing their sentence. The court acquitted three others who were involved in the case.

The Colonel officer is convicted of facilitating the entry of workers who were not needed. He was found innocent of the charges of human trafficking, fraud, abuse of influence and money laundering.

The Ministry of Interior had referred a number of defendants to the prosecution after investigations revealed that they brought labor from abroad in exchange for money and left them in the country without residency or salaries.
