Court acquits Kuwaiti man and other individuals of money laundering KD210,000

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 30: The Criminal Court, chaired by Judge Abdullah Al-Othman, has acquitted a Kuwaiti man and other individuals of laundering KD210,000 and offering loan with interest,says Al-Seyassah Arabic daily.
According to the defendant’s lawyer – Attorney Muhammad Munawer, his client did not commit any offense as the money was transferred to the accounts of the plaintiffs without any knowledge of conditions stated in the summons.
He argued that the conditions claimed by the plaintiffs were not even enough to push them towards exploitation and collection of interest. He added the Monetary Investigations Unit and the prosecution officer did not determine illegitimate sources of funds and source of the fund in question, which the unit should have investigated.
