‘Contrary to business interests’

I received a message on “WhatsApp” related to the hardships the small businesses owners are facing. Although the message was widespread with the increasing crisis and suffering of these people, and to create a greater response, I found it best to contribute to spreading the message although it conflicts, to some extent, with my interests.

Small businesses entrepreneurs suffer from huge losses that can force them into bankruptcy if the closure of their businesses lasts for a longer period of time, especially those who have been forced to pull down shutters, in addition to losing their savings they will be forced to borrow from banks to continue operating their stores.

The appeal calls on the citizens and residents to buy from restaurants or cafés bearing local marks or brands, and to stay away for a period from international stores, which may not be harmed by the same size of damage that affects small businesses.

Instead of buying coffee from famous stores belonging to international companies that have tens of thousands of similar stores around the world, great financial capabilities and huge reserves, it is nice and patriotic to deal for a while with similar local cafés, whose properties belong to small business owners because their coffee may be much tastier and their sweets are fresh and locally produced.

What applies to coffee applies to famous and international fast-food restaurants, and to be keen on buying from local and small restaurants that sell local burgers whose ingredients are prepared from fresh meat and local materials, and most importantly, prepared by young and ambitious hands.

The message goes on saying that the owners of all international brands, including food, beverages, etc., will continue or at least have the ability to last for a longer time if the crisis lasts but hundreds of small business owners will face bankruptcy very soon, and therefore they urgently need to stand with them and give them our confidence. We buy from them because they desperately need to survive.

The message says that we have to make small purchases, independent shopping, and the preservation of the national economy by purchasing the items they need from shop owners and small business owners, and this will provide them the strength to survive in their businesses during this global economic crisis.

Standing with the owners of this message does not mean, of course, that companies that own brands or global brands are not national and do not deserve to buy from them, rather the opposite is true, but they are temporarily more powerful than others.
