KUWAIT CITY, June 11: Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Fahd Al-Shoula declared that “Collecting donations inside the mosque is allowed for only those who are authorized, and doing so outside the jurisdiction is the responsibility of the Ministry of the Interior, reports Al-Rai daily.

Al-Shoula praised the Ministry of Awqaf for the implementation of all items and values of its strategy in its annual plan, which is based on a variety of contents, most notably partnership with others. He pointed out that Ministry of Awqaf coordinates with the Ministry of Social Affairs, which provides the ministry with the names of committees and approved charities or licensed foundations to allow the committees and charities to collect donations inside mosques, according to a specific timetable.

He pointed out that the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs “does not allow anyone to enter any of its mosques to collect donations, except those who have proven to be affiliated with the charities licensed by the Ministry of Social Affairs.

As for those who beg outside mosques, this is the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Interior, since it is responsible for security in the country”. Al-Shoula said the Ministry of Awqaf “is keen on facilitating the pilgrimage procedures of Bedoun, which was clarified in previous years where they had low-cost fl ights.

As the usual system each year, we have addressed the Ministry of Hajj in Saudi Arabia to allow Bedouns to perform Hajj for the next season, while the ministry continues to follow up with the Saudi committees to complete the approval procedures
