Co-ops empowered to help hire domestics from abroad

KUWAIT CITY, June 22: Al-Durra Domestic Workers Recruitment Company has specified one cooperative society in each governorate for the submission of applications for hiring domestic workers from abroad, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources.

Sources revealed the concerned cooperative societies include Rawda and Hawally Cooperative Society in the Capital Governorate, Zahra Cooperative Society in Hawally Governorate, Naseem Cooperative Society in Jahra Governorate, Fahaheel Cooperative Society in Ahmadi Governorate, Adan and Qosor Cooperative Society in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate and Ishbiliya Cooperative Society in Farwaniya Governorate. Sources said the board chairpersons of these cooperatives had been asked earlier to allocate an appropriate space to serve as the company’s center for receiving applications from those who need to recruit domestic workers from abroad.

Sources added these application centers will be equipped with automated networks to expedite the processing of applications. Meanwhile, Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance Anas Al-Saleh confirmed that the company will start operating towards the end of August.

It has been reported that the Consumer Cooperative Societies Union contributed 60 percent of the company’s capital, in addition to Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA), Public Authority for Social Security (PASS) and Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC).
