KUWAIT CITY, Aug 28: A nine-storied building in Mahboula area suddenly collapsed while the building was being demolished, resulting in damage to five vehicles that were nearby. So far, no casualties have been reported. According to a press statement issued by Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD), when the Control Room of KFSD received information about the incident, firefighters rushed to the location with securitymen and paramedics.
They checked to make sure no one was trapped under the rubble. Director of Public Relations and Media Department of KFSD Brigadier Khaleel Al-Ameer appealed to the concerned authorities to impose maximum punishment on the contracting company, as it did not abide by the safety conditions when demolishing the building. He said such companies damage state properties as well as private properties, and waste the time and efforts of emergency units in searching for people under the rubble.
Brigadier Al-Ameer revealed that the contractor and the laborers escaped from the location as soon as the incident happened, such that there was no one left behind to obtain information about the number of people who were at the location when the incident occurred, adding that they do not know the identity of the runaway contractor yet.
